Ilchester Surgery opening times are now: Monday to Friday 9 am - 4 pm.  Ilchester registered patients are also able to access new services at Buttercross Health Centre in Somerton. Find out more information on our latest news page.    

Please note, the surgery currently closes between 1 and 2 pm daily for staff training and essential administration.

 

At Ilchester Surgery each patient has their own named GP. You can however see any doctor of your choice. Please contact the surgery if you do not know who your named doctor is and our reception staff will be pleased to advise you.

 

 

 

 

 

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

 

SOMERSET & NORTH DEVON ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM (AAA) SCREENING PROGRAMME

 

AAA Screening is a simple ultrasound test which the NHS offers free of charge to all men in the year they turn 65. Men aged over 65 can self-refer by contacting the programme direct on 01823 344567 or by emailing Somerset.andnorthdevonaaa@nhs.net

 

It is estimated that around 1 in 25 men aged between 65 and 74 in England have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. This is about 4% of men in that age group. If you have an aneurysm you will not generally notice any symptoms. We offer screening so we can find aneurysms early and monitor or treat them. At the screening appointment we take a simple, pain-free ultrasound scan of your abdomen to look for an aneurysm and you will get the results straight away.
